Product Description

The TS808 is without a doubt the most popular overdrive circuit ever. SRV may have been the first to make it famous, but he didn't do half as much for the pedal's notoriety as the hundreds of thousands of overdrives to come out afterwards that were really just clones of the TS808. 99.9% of all the overdrives out there, both boutique and mass produced, are either a straight up clone of the TS808 or a modified version of it.
The B.Y.O.C. screamer clone kit comes with everything you need to build a complete pedal to the exact specs of the TS808 including the JRC4558D op amp AND a ton of parts for modifications.

We just added a bunch of new stuff to the overdrive kit. We compiled a list of ALL the mods that were being done to the TS circuit....everything that boutique builders and professional modders were doing....and we added all those parts and instructions to the B.Y.O.C. kit. Every guitar player's got a tubescreamer. It's as essential as the guitar and amp. Why buy a non-true bypass mass produced TS-9 reissue or SD-1 and have to fiddle around with modifying it, or spend serious cash on a handmade copy. Build one from the ground up the way you want. This is our most popular kit because it truly allows you to take tone into your own hands.

Extra Modification components:

* all caps have been upgraded to run safely at anywhere between 9v and 18v. No

need to add a charge pump like some boutique overdrives. More voltage = more

headroom.

* Op amp socket for easy experimentation

* Texas instruments RC4558P chip. Some say this is the real "808" chip

* 2 x 1uf film caps to replace electrolytics in signal path.

* 2 x .15uf tatalums for improved tone knob frequency.

* .22uf cap to reduce mid hump and increase bass response.

* .1uf cap to reduce mid hump and increase bass response, but not as much as the

.22uf

* 620k resistor for higher input impedence

* 20k resistor for less distortion when you turn the drive knob all the way down

without diminishing maximum distortion.

* 1.5k resistor for more distortion

* 2.7k resistor for more distortion but not too "over the top"

* 470ohm and 100k resistors to build to TS9 specs.

* extra 1N914 diode for experimentation with clipping or BOSS SD-1 clipping

* 3 x 1N4001 diodes for experimentation with asymmetrical clipping

* 3 x 3mm red LEDs for experimentation with clipping. These are said to give the

pedal a marshall-like overdrive crunch.
